Did you know November 14th is WORLD Diabetes Day?!!
The blue circle it the symbol for international diabetes awareness
Launched unofficially in the mid-1980s by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), and was officially adopted in 2007 when a UN Resolution was passed, acknowledging diabetes as a global epidemic and crisis. It is the only non-communicable disease to be recognized with a UN Resolution, so Nov. 14 is a big deal!
Follow this link to see how November 14th is acknowledged across the world!
In order to achieve the level of recognition and association obtained by breast cancer awareness (PINK ribbons) and
womens' heart disease (RED dresses) diabetes advocacy organizations in all countries need to adopt one recognizable icon.
