Orlando, FL is going to be the center of diabetes education August 6-9, 2014. With over 3,000 diabetes educators expected and more than 200 exhibiting companies showcasing their products and services to the DE audience, Orlando will be the place to be.
We have made many changes to this year’s meeting that we hope you will find to be improvements, including:
1. Changing the snack program in the exhibit hall to vouchers for all paid registrants. The vouchers can be exchanged for a variety of food items in the exhibit hall Café.
2. Moving the location of the product theaters to the exhibit hall. Six of the product theater sessions will now be lunch presentations. The other two sessions will be presented in an afternoon reception format.
3. Introducing a pilot program for Tuesday, August 5, where tables will be reserved for AADE attendees at some restaurants within walking distance of the convention center. This is a great networking opportunity if you are attending alone and would like to have a nice meal and meet new colleagues.
4. Adding daily raffles in the exhibit hall with fun prizes — some that can be used in Orlando during the meeting and some enticements to attend next year’s meeting in New Orleans.
You may have seen a survey we recently emailed out about future AADE events. Our goal is to make the Annual Meeting more affordable and valuable so even more AADE members can attend. We are looking at changing the pattern so the meeting will fall over the weekend, when hotel rates are less expensive, to make it more affordable. We are looking at ways to increase the number of CE hours offered. We are looking at ways to lower the registration fee and still offer the same, or better, levels of offerings. We will continue to revamp the educational program.
