2018 WADE Annual Conference Silent Auction Benefits the
Karen Shultz-Goldstein Memorial Lecture Fund
Last year’s auction was again a great success & we hope to top it this year during the annual meeting. You can help make this happen by contributing to the fun. There are many ways to help either with an item or by soliciting contributions.
All prize tickets can be purchased by check or cash; we are unable to process credit cards at the conference.
The 2017 contributions were fantastic with a variety of merchandise. Some examples and ideas are listed below. Please think out of the box & use your creativity to help make 2018’s silent auction successful. Many of you have talents, hobbies and skills that you have shared with WADE in the past and we hope you will continue to participate in this fun activity. Handmade items, art, jewelry, electronics are all popular items.
It is a good time to shop for those special gifts that may never be found in a store. Consider donating that recent gift that you already have. All of the proceeds will be applied to the Karen Shultz-Goldstein Memorial Lecture Fund. The funds are used to bring well known keynote speakers for WADE's annual conferences.
Electronics: Items such as I-pods, electronic readers, and cameras are very successful.
Arts & Crafts, Hobbies: Jewelry, wood project, sewing project, knitted item, or other items that you are willing to share.
Theme Baskets: Such as gourmet food basket, a newborn basket or a wedding anniversary basket with a romantic weekend get-away. Possibly a hotel would donate a nights stay, and a restaurant the dinner in exchange for the advertisement and exposure of their business. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE WINE IN ANY OF THE BASKETS.
Special Services: Ideas would be a spa treatment or new hairstyle to extend to potential new customers.
Vacation Destinations: Do you or someone you know have a vacation home, condo or time-share? Please consider donating accommodations.
Gift Cards: Do you have a gift card for a national chain restaurant, bookstore, clothing store, etc. that you don’t think you’ll use?
Vendors: Sales people are often good sources of event tickets – sports, music, and theater. They occasionally have access to incentive gifts and other items that they might be willing to donate, you just have to ask.
Diabetes Education Resources: Many of you have developed tools for diabetes education. Here’s an opportunity to promote yourself, while supporting WADE.
To donate an item for the Silent Auction:
Send form to Pat Haldi via email or by regular post mail (her address is on the form). If you need help in getting your contribution(s) to the meeting we can help you. Just indicate that need on the Donation Form.
Questions? email Pat Haldi: firstname.lastname@example.org
All proceeds will benefit the Karen Shultz-Goldstein Memorial Lecture Fund & are tax deductable. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
About the Fund: Karen Goldstein was a long time member of WADE and friend and colleague of many diabetes educators throughout Washington. She passed away in 2009. WADE decided to honor her memory and dedication to diabetes education by establishing, with her family, a memorial lecture fund. The fund is part of the AADE Foundation, but WADE has access to the fund at any time.
